Before Your Eyes: A Poem
When was the last time you took time to relish a flower’s fragrance?
Or slowly savor the sweet taste of ice cream?

How long has it been since you said yes to the silliest thing your child asked you to partake in...
...and be fully present in that moment with them?
When was the last time you danced to music without a care as to who or what was watching?

Or took your time feeling the sand sift between your toes?
Maybe it’s time to pause the grind.
Postpone the list of tasks we think must be done at this very moment.
Allow ourselves to be interrupted.
...and look up and out toward whatever is right before our eyes, waiting to be seen.
Waiting to be noticed.
Waiting for us to delight in its presence.
